Recruitment Information

VIA is an independent, private school system with Vermont-approved independent schools (VISA) serving Chinese students who are preparing to attend colleges in the USA. The VIA system is currently an applicant for full system accreditation with AdvancED and has two individually accredited campuses in Shanghai and Kunshan. VIA serves highly motivated students on several campuses in China (Shanghai, Kunshan, Nansha, Xiamen) with the Wuxi campus anticipated launch in 2019. Some VIA campuses are stand alone, while others operate as a campus within a host school. All subjects except Chinese studies courses are taught in English. As a VIA student, you will be a part of a learning community of English-speaking international educators who work together to realize VIA's motto of "Knowledge, Innovation, and Global Understanding".

Ideal VIA faculty candidates will have experience working with diverse student bodies and are adaptable to life in a foreign context and education in an international school environment. Additionally, teachers should have excellent English language skills and optimally be certified in their subject. We prefer candidates who have earned a master's degree, teaching license, and/or international experience. Experience in teaching non-native English speakers is highly valued.

The VIA teacher is responsible for providing an exceptionally active and engaging educational atmosphere where differentiated learning is the norm. We support our faculty with regular and ongoing professional learning and education opportunities through campus in-service, system-wide continuous education and learning meetings, and academic support on the campus and system level. Our curriculum is fully mapped, and VIA is in the process of mapping units and lessons to primary learning resources and providing secondary and tertiary resources though Canvas and Microsoft Office365 Teams. We believe in collaborative efforts to improve the curriculum and shared agency to improve our schools and system. The vision and values of the Vermont International Academy are more than platitudes for the system and campus leadership, they guide our decision making and process of growing our schools and improving learning in our learning environments.
